Renninson will work alongside fiction publisher, Ruth Tross, to establish the company’s new imprint, launching later this year. He can be contacted at jack@bookouture.com.

Ruth Tross said,

‘We were all hugely impressed in Jack’s interviews by his incredibly analytical approach to publishing – he was always putting the digital reader at the heart of his thinking. His savvy data-led mindset combined with his genre expertise convinced us he was the perfect person to establish Bookouture in this area of the market. We are always working to diversify our publishing and reach new audiences, and we can’t wait to acquire and publish our first SFF digital bestsellers.’

Jack Renninson said,

‘It’s hard to imagine a greater adventure, as a publisher, than launching an imprint in the genre you love. I am grateful to Ruth and all at Bookouture for this opportunity. Science fiction and fantasy publishing is evolving, reshaped by online developments from subscription boxes to BookTok. With unmatched digital insight and an inspiring focus on authors and readers, Bookouture is perfectly placed to discover and develop the genre’s most exciting new voices.’

Bookouture sign bestselling author Matthew Farrell

We are so excited to announce that Commissioning Editor Kelsie Marsden has acquired World English Language and audio rights for two brand new high-concept thrillers by bestselling author Matthew Farrell from Curtis Russell of P.S. Literary Agency. Matthew’s crime thrillers have sold over 400,000 copies to date and have been translated into 6 languages.

Matthew’s first book with Bookouture will publish in Autumn 2022. When Laura Anderson picks up a FaceTime call from an unknown caller, the ominous voice on the other end reveals her worst fears: someone has kidnapped her daughter Nelle, and they know all her secrets…

Kelsie said,

‘As soon as I read the pitch for Matthew’s new book, I knew I was in for something special and once I’d started reading, I blitzed through the novel in one sitting. Matthew’s writing is pacy and vivid, and he’s created a multi-layered mystery packed with jaw-dropping twists. Just when you think you’ve got it all figured out, he throws another curve ball into the mix and you’re left reeling. Utterly brilliant. I know readers will love it and I can’t wait to publish it!’

Matthew said,

‘As soon as I spoke with the Bookouture team, I knew this would be the right home for me. They were so enthusiastic about my story and had so many great ideas about how to get my book into the hands of readers. I can’t wait for my fans to read my latest thriller, and I’m so excited to be part of the Bookouture family.’

Curtis said,

‘I am delighted to be working with Kelsie and the Bookouture team to bring Matthew’s next powerhouse thrillers to readers!’

Bookouture re-sign contracts with Miller and Dunphy

We’re excited to share the news that we have re-signed contracts with Amy Miller and S.A. Dunphy.

We are delighted to have signed a new two-book contract with Amy Miller. Associate Publisher Helen Jenner signed a deal for World English Rights for two contemporary women’s fiction books with Veronique Baxter at David Higham.

Helen said,

‘I’m thrilled to be working on two new books with Amy. She is a dream author who always writes with such heart. Her two new stories have all the themes Amy writes so well – family drama, female friendships and how to fix a broken heart. Charming and heart-warming, readers will fall in love within the first page.’

Amy said,

‘I’m very excited about writing another two books to be published by Bookouture. I’m looking forward to working once again with Helen Jenner and the patient and positive Bookouture team!’

We are delighted to announce that Bookouture have acquired another 3 books from the UK and Irish bestselling author Shane Dunphy (writing as S.A. Dunphy).

Commissioning Editor Susannah Hamilton acquired World English Language and audio rights from Ivan Mulcahy at MMB Creative for three books in a new police procedural crime series set in Ireland, featuring Detective Inspector Tessa Burns. The first two in the series will publish in February 2023.

Susannah said,

‘Shane is a brilliant writer whose atmospheric, pacey and hugely gripping stories keep me reading until late into the night. This new series, featuring DI Tessa Burns and her team who focus on cases involving children, is a hugely exciting new prospect for Shane, and for Bookouture! The characters leap off the page, the cases to be solved are utterly compelling, and the eerily remote Irish settings are a brilliant backdrop to the plots. I can’t wait for readers to get their hands on these amazing new books.’

Shane said,

‘Signing another three-book deal with Bookouture was an easy decision. I love books and writing, and so do the people at Bookouture. Their editors, graphic designers and promotional team treat publishing as a dynamic creative process, with the writer very much at the centre. I know Tessa Burns and her team have found a good home.’

Carolyn says,

Bookouture sign bestselling author Ann O’Loughlin

We are delighted to announce that bestselling author Ann O’Loughlin is joining Bookouture. Associate Publisher Isobel Akenhead has agreed a world rights deal with Jenny Brown Associates for two new gorgeously escapist, Irish set, women’s fiction novels. The first is an uplifting love story with a difference, and also a story of resilience, about a young woman and two girls learning to become a family, against the odds. Both this and the second novel will be published in 2023.

Isobel says,

‘I’ve been a fan of Ann’s for the longest time and was so excited to be sent this novel to read. So, starting it, of course, I had my fingers crossed that I’d enjoy it. But it was so much more than that. Sometimes a story comes along and sweeps you away like almost never before, and I was only a few pages into this novel when I knew I absolutely had to publish it. I can’t wait for us to work together, and I am confident Bookouture is the publisher who will find Ann the huge digital reading audience she deserves.’

Ann says,

I am delighted to be working with the dynamic team at Bookouture to bring my latest novels to readers all over the world. From the moment I started talking to Isobel, I knew she was the editor for me. It was exhilarating to hear her passion for my writing and her enthusiasm for the story. My hope now is that readers will enjoy these latest novels as much as I have enjoyed writing them. With Isobel and my agent Jenny Brown at my side, it promises to be exciting times ahead!’
