Bookouture sign Jessica Payne

We’re thrilled to announce that Commissioning Editor Kelsie Marsden has acquired World English and audio rights for two completely unputdownable psychological thrillers by debut author Jessica Payne from Kimberly Brower of Brower Literary & Management. Jessica is the host of #MomsWritersClub on YouTube and Twitter.

Jessica’s first novel will publish in May 2022 and tells the story of a woman on the edge who will do anything to escape her sociopathic – potentially deadly – boyfriend, including arranging her own kidnapping. Get ready for twists aplenty and tons of jaw-dropping moments!

Kelsie said,

‘A few pages into Jessica’s novel, I knew I had something very special on my hands. Jessica’s writing is so gripping and fast-paced that I didn’t want to put the book down for a second and I flew through every chapter. Jessica has crafted a story so twisty I really did not know what to expect next and at points I definitely said OMG out loud. I just loved it and I knew I had to publish it! I think Jessica has tons of potential and I can’t wait to work with her and share her writing with the world. I know readers are going to adore these books too!’

Jessica said,

‘When I found out Kelsie and Bookouture read and loved my book—and wanted to acquire it!—I couldn’t quite believe it. I stopped what I was doing and took a huge smiling photo with my daughter to capture the moment. It still hasn’t quite set in that I have the privilege of working with and publishing with them. Finding an editor as excited about your book as you are is a dream come true, and I can’t wait to see what we can do together as we bring these books to readers’ hands!’

Kimberly said,

‘I knew Jessica had created something special after reading just the first few pages. One page turned into five. Five pages turned into fifty and before I knew it, I was completely invested in the story. Not only is the story one that gets your heart-pumping, but the voice is so spot on. I cannot wait until readers get to experience her words.’

She said,

‘Miranda’s most recent book, Not My Mother, hit the top 30 in the UK and top 5 in Australia, and it’s been fantastic seeing her sales and following build. Everything she writes is brilliantly twisty and full of human, heartfelt dilemmas. Miranda was the first author I acquired at Bookouture two years ago, and I am so excited to have books on the way till the end of 2023!’

Miranda said,

I’ve had a great experience working with the Bookouture team. Ruth has been an incredible editor and mentor on this journey. I’m excited to share new books with readers in 2022 and 2023!’

Associate Publisher Helen Jenner has acquired World all languages rights for three psychological thrillers publishing in 2022 and 2023 from crime author Sue Watson.

Sue said,

I’m absolutely thrilled to be working on another three books with the fabulous team at Bookouture. I love working with Helen, her brilliant ideas and incisive editing are equalled only by her endless enthusiasm for murder and mayhem. Together we’ve come up with some very dark and twisty plots for future books, and I can’t wait to share them with readers.’

Bookouture sign Dianne Haley

We are absolutely thrilled to announce that Publishing Executive Rhianna Louise has acquired World rights for two incredible historical novels from Dianne Haley.

Set in Switzerland during World War Two, the first will publish in April 2022 and tells the story of Resistance fighter Valérie, who must decide if she will betray her country and her friends to save the life of her childhood sweetheart Philippe. Breath-takingly gripping and heart-wrenching, this powerful story draws inspiration from true historical events including the stories of Jewish refugees escaping over the Swiss border from occupied France.

Rhianna said,

‘As soon as I started reading Dianne’s debut, I was completely hooked. It kept me up all night racing through the pages and had me dreaming for weeks of fleeing through cobbled streets under the cover of darkness, and of underground tunnels in the snow-covered Alps. Dianne’s writing is full of vivid characters, rich historical detail and emotional depth, and I am utterly thrilled to be publishing her beautiful novels.’

Dianne said,

‘I’m so excited to be published by Bookouture and have been very impressed by the care and professionalism of the whole team. From my very first contact with Rhianna I’ve felt like I was in good hands. She has been hugely supportive and enthusiastic about my WW2 series and I’m looking forward to working with her.

Jessie says,

“Wendy is an amazingly talented writer with such a fantastic feel for what drives readers to stay up all night turning pages. The Madison Harper series just goes from strength to strength, and those incredible reviews speak for themselves, so I’m so excited to be bringing the next instalments to readers next year. As for the standalone thriller, well, you’ll just have to wait and see…”

Wendy says,

I’m thrilled with the success of the Detective Madison Harper series, and delighted to be able to continue the series for its loyal readers, as well as writing another standalone crime thriller. I’m proud to call Bookouture my publisher, and Jessie my editor, as they believe in me and they enjoy my characters as much as I do!”
