We’re super excited to share that we’ve re-signed contracts with two of your favourite cosy crime authors and will be bringing more books your way.

Publishing Director Ruth Tross has acquired world rights in three new Eve Mallow cozy mysteries from Clare Chase.

Ruth says,

‘Obituary writer Eve, and her intrepid dachshund Gus, are a fantastic and much-loved sleuthing duo. I’m thrilled that they have more cases coming in 2021!’

Bookouture sign book blogger Joy Kluver

Commissioning Editor Therese Keating has acquired World English Language rights from Anne Williams at the Kate Hordern Literary Agency for three books in a new police procedural series by blogger and debut author Joy Kluver.  The first DI Bernie Noel book is publishing in February 2021 with the second to follow in July and the third in January  2022.

Set in rural Wiltshire, the first in the series starring Detective Bernadette ‘Bernie’ Noel opens with the abduction of a young girl, Molly, from a park. What follows is the nailbiting race to find her alive – while it soon becomes clear that the local community see this as punishment for a terrible wrong committed in the past.

Therese said,

‘I’m so thrilled to be welcoming Joy to the Bookouture family. This book grabbed me from the first chapter with the question of why anyone could turn their back on the family of a missing child, and only gripped me further from there through shocks and twists that had me on the edge of my seat. Joy perfectly captures the claustrophobic feel of a small community turning against itself, and the way trauma can taint a place for generations. Bernie Noel and her whole team felt as if they’d known each other (and I’d know them) forever – I can’t wait for readers to meet them too!’

Joy said,

‘I can’t tell you how exciting it is to find an editor who loves your character and story as much as you do. I’m thrilled to be working with Therese and the rest of the Bookouture team and look forward to introducing Bernie Noel to readers.’

Bookouture sign new crime series by bestselling author, Zoë Sharp

We are delighted to share the news that we have signed a new crime series by bestselling author, Zoë Sharp. Associate Publisher Lucy Dauman signed the deal for three books, with World all language and audio rights. The first book in the series begins when, ten years after she disappeared, a girl claiming to be Blake Claremont turns up at the family home, on the day of her father’s funeral. But the family have their suspicions that she is an imposter – not least because of the shallow grave hidden in the woods. It is up to ex-detective John Byron to uncover the shocking truth. Bookouture will publish in October 2021, with a second book featuring Blake and Byron to follow in April 2022.

Lucy said,

‘I have long been a fan of Zoë’s outstanding characters and fast-paced, twisty plots, and I couldn’t be more excited about this fantastic new series. It promises the same nail-biting tension and jaw-dropping twists as Zoë’s previous books, with two stellar new characters that I know readers will absolutely love. I am over the moon that we will be publishing it, and I can’t wait to introduce Blake and Byron to the world!

Zoë said,

‘I’ve been writing steadily since I was fifteen and been published by traditional houses in London and New York before happily going the indie publishing route with my Charlie Fox and Lakes series of crime thrillers. The fact that Bookouture has tempted me back into the fold tells you how impressed I am with both their approach and their personnel. I’ll be penning the new series alongside my existing strands and can’t wait to see what they do with it!’

‘Suzanne is a rare and special author. She writes novels with such power, scope, poetry and visual richness that you feel you’re there right alongside the characters. She’s also brilliant at fresh perspectives on wartime – and it is absolutely impossible to see the Second World War the same after reading her books. In the new novels, you can expect Russian spies, dark secrets, female fighter pilots, a treasure hunt spanning more than fifty years, and heartbreak that will devastate and yet lift you up. She’s an unmissable author and I’m thrilled to be working with her again.’

‘I’m over-the-moon to be publishing two more WW2 books with Bookouture and delighted to be working again with my fabulously talented editor Isobel Akenhead. Hannah says,

‘Donna is a complete joy to work with and I am so proud and happy to have secured her publishing at Bookouture for another three books. It’s clear why her novels are such firm favourites with her readers – her writing is warm and witty and a pleasure to read: exactly what the world needs right now.’

Donna says,

I’m absolutely delighted to be working with Bookouture, and my lovely editor Hannah again. Being with them over the last couple of years has been a dream come true – I love the editorial process, the amazing covers, publicity and marketing. They make everyone feel like an important member of the team and my writing had developed under their watchful eye. I can’t wait to work with them on another three books. ’

Commissioning Editor Jennifer Hunt has acquired world rights in three more books in the Sandy Cove series from Susanne O’Leary, which has sold over 200,000 copies worldwide.

Jennifer says,

‘Susanne’s books are pure escapism. She has whisked readers away to the Wild Atlantic Way six times so far and no one wants to leave, least of all me. She is an utter delight to work with and I’m extremely proud to get to continue publishing her at Bookouture.’

Susanne says,

‘I’m so happy to keep working with Bookouture and all the wonderful people there. It has been a true delight to be edited by Jennifer who has become my rock in my writing life. Always there ready with a helping hand to steer me in the right direction, she has made the hard work of writing easier. During these trying times, my writing has been my solace and just like my readers, I love escaping to “my” little village on the west coast of Ireland, creating yet more quirky characters.’
