Bookouture re-sign psychological thriller writers Lynes and Clarke

We’re super excited today to share the news that we have re-signed contracts with two of your favourite psychological thriller writers SE Lynes and Wendy Clarke.

Jenny Geras, Publisher, has acquired World English rights to three more novels by S.E. Lynes from Veronique Baxter at David Higham Associates.

Susie is the author of MotherThe Pact, The Proposal and The Women, all of which have been Kindle UK top 100 bestsellers, as well as Valentina, which was originally published by Blackbird Digital Books.

The first book in the new contract will publish in December 2019, and will be in a new area for Lynes, and two more psychological thrillers will follow in 2020.

Jenny Geras said,

I’m delighted to be publishing three more books from Susie – and especially right now, with The Women doing so well, and getting some of the most incredible reader reviews I have ever seen. I know that Susie’s many fans will be thrilled to hear that there are three more books coming!

S.E. Lynes said,

I absolutely love working with this dynamic, brilliant and hugely supportive team, am busy writing at this very moment and cannot wait to share some more dark and twisty tales with my amazing and lovely readers. Massive love and thanks to my publisher and to all the readers who have supported me through the last five novels. I hope you enjoy the next three every bit as much.

Commissioning Editor Jennifer Hunt has acquired world rights to two more psychological thrillers from Flash500 Novel Competition winner and kindle bestseller Wendy Clarke, whose debut What She Saw raced into the Kindle top 100 in May. Both will publish in 2020.

Jennifer said,

Wendy is an extraordinary author: her reviews are outstanding, she has an incredible flair for building tension and her books get better and better. I know I’m not the only person thrilled she’s writing more for Bookouture, with readers completely compelled by her first thriller and just as desperate for more.

Wendy added,

It’s been an absolute pleasure writing for Bookouture, especially as it’s allowed me to work with my very lovely and talented editor, Jennifer Hunt. To be given the opportunity to write two more books for this dynamic and supportive publisher is a dream come true.

Following Bookouture’s acquisition by Hachette in 2017, Slater is also published by print partners Sphere in the UK and Grand Central Publishing in the US.

K.L. Slater has published six thrillers with Bookouture, all of them Kindle chart bestsellers in the US and the UK. Her seventh novel, CLOSER, is out next month.

K.L. Slater said,

I was quietly optimistic when I joined Bookouture in 2016, fully prepared to work hard to fulfil my lifelong goal of becoming a full-time writer and to make the most of the amazing chance to work with such a dynamic publisher. But never, in my wildest dreams, could I have anticipated selling a million copies of my books. I feel truly grateful to my fantastic readers, my brilliant editor and the whole Bookouture team.

Two gripping psych thrillers from debut author Wendy Clarke to Bookouture.

So delighted to share that Commissioning Editor Jennifer Hunt has acquired world rights to two psychological thrillers from Flash500 Novel Competition winner Wendy Clarke. The first will publish in May 2019:

Twelve years ago, Leona left her life behind. She saved her family from a terrible secret, now they’re safe from what she saw, and the one person who could take everything away. But she lied to her daughter, Beth. She lies to her every day. When a stranger arrives in the village Leona knows what to do for the sake of her family. She must face up to her past, and she prepares to tell her story. About a woman called Ria. And a little girl called Lily. But Leona’s lies have already put them in danger…

The second standalone thriller will follow later in the year.

Jennifer Hunt said,

Wendy’s writing is unputdownable. Just the first chapter of her first novel won her the Flash500 competition, because it’s a work of genius, but the judges didn’t even get to read the stunning twist it features half-way through or its jaw-dropping ending. Wendy is the sort of writer you wish you could find and I’m so thrilled to be working with her.

Wendy added,

Every author dreams of finding a publisher who feels as passionately about their novel as they do. That dream came true when Jennifer contacted me, a few days after I submitted my manuscript, to tell me she’d liked it so much she’d read it twice! I’m delighted to be joining a dynamic company and working with such a forward-looking and supportive team.

We do hope you will join us on Facebook and Twitter to celebrate.

The Date, published last month, hit the UK top 10 and is still on both the UK and US bestseller lists.

Louise Jensen said,

Before The Sister was released I nervously sent my editor a list of people I thought would buy it. I had 17 names. I’m stunned and utterly overjoyed today to discover I’ve surpassed a million sales. I can’t thank my readers and everyone involved enough.

Bookouture Publishing Director Jenny Geras said,

What Louise has achieved in just two years is incredible. What Louise’s readers constantly tell us is that in a crowded genre, her novels stand out as being the most gripping, the hardest to put down, with the best twists and the most standout hooks.
