Who is behind Bookouture?

Bookouture was founded by Oliver Rhodes – a publishing veteran and former Head of Marketing at Harlequin UK.  You can find out more about Oliver HERE.

Why publish with Bookouture?

We offer bespoke digital publishing – so our publishing and marketing is tailored to your author brand – not the other way around. Put simply, our aim is to add value to the publishing process in terms of connecting authors to reader.

We can’t publish every submission we get, but for our authors we offer a marketing focus and branding expertise which puts us a step ahead of other publishers.

We also offer a fantastic 45% of net receipts royalty rate.

What if my book has already been published?

We will consider books from established authors where either digital rights were always retained by the author, or rights have reverted – if we think we can still add value.

How long before I hear about my submission?

We’ll confirm by e-mail straight away that we have received your submission. We read every single submission and aim to reply to you within four to six weeks.

What royalty rate does Bookouture pay?

We pay a highly competitive 45% of net receipts royalty on eBooks – to all our authors.

We believe is keeping things simple, transparent and fair.

Will my manuscript be edited?

Yes – we work with some of the best editors around to ensure that your book is the best it can be.

We also ensure every title is rigorously copy-edited.

Can I submit multiple manuscripts?

Absolutely – but please submit each manuscript separately.

Do I need an agent?

No – both agented and non-agented submissions are welcome.

Do you pay your authors an advance?

No, we don’t. Our high digital royalty rates and speed to market offset the lack of advance.

Will you publish my book in print?

We make all of our books available in Print-on-Demand format, so readers will be able to buy them via all major online retailers – like Amazon, Barnes & Noble and The Book Depository.

Who do I contact regarding translation rights?

Since our acquisition by Hachette UK, we work with the rights team at Little, Brown for the sale of translation rights. To enquire about translation rights in our titles please email rights@bookouture.com.

Why do I need to create an account to submit my manuscript?

Creating an account makes the submission process more efficient. You can track where we are with your manuscript by viewing your account and we can contact you quickly with any updates on your submission. You can track multiple submissions through your account and add notes to your manuscript after submitting.

We will not use your information for anything other than contacting you regarding your submissions.
