When I started Bookouture, I wanted to focus on a few exceptionally talented authors who I thought we could build into superstars.
Today, I’m delighted to announce that we’ve found our first one (Scroll down for the full press release).
Lindsay J Pryor is a British Paranormal Romance author who writes dark, intense stories set in the dystopian world of Blackthorn.
Blackthorn really captured our imagination at Bookouture as a fantastically vivid and complex world, one which readers will utterly lose themselves in.
In an imaginary future the world is controlled by humans – who rule over vampires with an iron fist. Society is divided and ‘third species’ are both feared and discriminated against. Additional seeds of discontent are sown by whispers of a vampire prophecy foretelling the overthrow of the human regime.
Blackthorn itself is the most impoverished of several administrative districts – a real melting pot for vampires, lycans and humans – and a hive of social unrest.
Lindsay paints this multi-layered world effortlessly, and in her first book Blood Shadows uses it as the setting for an intense forbidden romance…
We’re saying no more right now – but watch this space!
I first discovered Lindsay’s writing when reading entries for Mills & Boon’s New Voices competition, where she finished as a runner-up in both 2010 and 2011.
When I set up my own publishing company, I was amazed that Lindsay still hadn’t been signed by a publisher – clearly readers loved her writing, and so did I. Having now read the first two books in full, I know we’re onto something special.
We’ve signed the first three books in the series – with the first launching this November. Yes – this November – the 27th to be precise.
One of the great things about publishing digitally is that we can get books to readers quickly. Lindsay is also working on revising book two in the series – Blood Roses – now and that will be available in Spring 2013.
There’ll be lots more news to come over the following weeks – we’re putting the finishing touches to the cover design right now, developing a book trailer and we’re working on re-launching Lindsay’s website.
Do stay in touch via the website, facebook and twitter – it’s going to be an exciting ride.
